Galaxy UD-1800CN Eco-Solvent Roll Printer
The Galaxy UD-1800CN is a roll-fed eco-solvent printer with four Epson i3200 E1 printheads, printing CMYK across a maximum width of 1800 mm on rolls up to 100 m long. The four-head layout is what lifts the rated output above 170 m²/h in two-pass draft mode, roughly twice the throughput of the narrower single- and twin-head machines in the same range, which makes it the choice when a shop's bottleneck is printing time rather than print width.
The media path carries a triple heating system and a two-stage dryer combining forced ventilation with infrared. Eco-solvent ink needs that heat to bite into the coating and to be dry before the print is wound onto the take-up roller; without it, high-speed output has to be left hanging. Prints come off the machine ready to handle, and the cured ink film stands up to abrasion and sunlight once the graphic is mounted.
Ink is fed from a chipless CISS bulk system, refilled from bottles, and the supplied colour profiles are set up to reach a given result with less ink — the catalogue quotes 0.28 €/m² at average photographic coverage. An anti-crush system protects the carriage from media that has lifted off the platen, and a take-up system is part of the standard configuration.
The machine takes frontlit and backlit PVC, mesh, self-adhesive vinyl and paper, and is driven by the FlexiPrint RIP. It needs 4 × 2 m of floor space, a 220 V supply and 3400 W, and weighs 288 kg. It is aimed at advertising production workshops running up to roughly 1,000 m² a day of indoor and outdoor work.
Applications
- High-volume frontlit PVC banner production
- Backlit prints for lightboxes and illuminated signage
- Mesh prints for fences, scaffolding and building wraps
- Self-adhesive vinyl for vehicle and window graphics
- Posters and paper prints for indoor display
- Trade production for workshops printing around 1,000 m² a day
