About this machine

TK G3015 Abrasive Waterjet Cutting Machine

The G3015 cuts with a high-pressure water jet, with or without abrasive. Material is removed by erosion rather than by heat, so there is no heat-affected zone and no hardening or discolouration at the cut edge — which is why waterjet is chosen for stone, glass, composites and metals that would distort under a thermal process. Travel is 3050 × 1550 mm in X and Y with 200 mm of Z, and the structure and control panel are built as one unit in stainless steel, so the operator works from the machine itself.

Pressure comes from a Siemens 37 kW (50 hp) air-cooled motor driving an ERTI (Hypertherm, USA) intensifier of 50 hp, with Rexroth pump and valves and DERY hoses. Maximum constant pressure is 420 MPa, adjustable from 1,000 to 60,000 psi (up to 4200 bar), and through a nozzle of at most 0.33 mm or 0.35 mm the jet leaves at 800 – 1000 m/s. A pre-intensification stage conditions the water ahead of the intensifier, which reduces pressure swings during the cut and the wear those swings cause on nozzles and seals. The hydraulic oil is air-cooled from an 80 litre reservoir, rated for ambient temperatures below 40 °C, and the pump is enclosed so that it runs below 78 dB.

All three axes run on ABBA ball screws from Taiwan with paired HIWIN linear guides, driven by Yaskawa Mechatrolink or Panasonic servos. Positioning holds ± 0.05 mm over 300 mm and the machine repeats to ± 0.01 mm; a Renishaw compensation system measures and realigns automatically. In cut, a 100 × 100 mm square comes out within ± 0.04 mm, a 100 mm circle within ± 0.05 mm, and perpendicularity on 30 mm stainless steel within ± 0.03 mm. Where a five-axis head is fitted, the rotary A and B axes repeat to 0.1°. Z-axis working speed is 5 m/min.

The cutting head is a three-axis Hypertherm Dia-Line that runs pure water or abrasive mix, with ruby or diamond nozzles. Water deionisation, automatic greasing and numerically controlled abrasive feed are included, so the consumables that determine cut quality are managed by the machine rather than by hand. A PLC watches the pump throughout, with pressure sensors, temperature monitoring and consumable life tracking, and a deflection system diverts pressure out of the cutting line when the machine stops, so the nozzle is not damaged at the moment of shutdown.

Control is by the Windows-based NC Studio system. Maximum consumption is 42 kW from a 380 V, 50 – 60 Hz supply, the machine weighs 5 tonnes and occupies 3800 × 2050 mm on the floor, and it is rated for a working environment of 5 – 30 °C. It suits subcontract cutting shops handling mixed materials and thicknesses where a thermal process is unsuitable.

Applications

  • Cutting stainless steel and other metal plate
  • Profiling marble, granite and other stone
  • Glass, ceramic and composite panels
  • Parts that must not be heated or hardened at the cut edge
  • Bevel and five-axis cutting with a five-axis head
